Chapter of Meeting the Children
Meeting the Children is a scene. Meeting the Children begins when Home Alone ends.
When Meeting the Children begins:
say "'Oh, you have returned to me! That is wonderful!'[paragraph break]";
if the player is enclosing the key:
say "The other mother waves a hand, and big rat with fiery eyes jumps on to you, and before you realize it, you drop the key to the door and the rat snatches it and delivers it to the other mother.[paragraph break]";
otherwise:
say "The other mother waves a hand, and big rat with fiery eyes appears and runs swiftly away, only to return a very short time later with the key to the door. The rat delivers it to the other mother.[paragraph break]";
say "'And you have come to stay, too. That is so good.'[paragraph break]"; [<-needs more writing?]
say "*** Oh well! An exciting and dangerous new chapter seems to begin... ***[paragraph break]";
now the wooden door is locked;
now the attic door is unlocked;
now the basement door is unlocked;
now the mother is in the Drawing Room;
now the father is in the Empty Basement;
now Flat Door is unlocked;
now the mother is carrying the black key;
now the snow globe is on the mantelpiece;
now the toy box is in Coraline's room;
now the gray marble is in the toy box;
now the door to the empty flat is unlocked.
Every turn during Meeting the Children:
if the player has been in In-the-Mirror for six turns and the children are unknown:
say "You hear a faint noise.";
if listen count is at least 3 and the player has been in In-the-Mirror for at least twelve turns:
say "Suddenly the other mother opens the mirror and lets you out.";
say "It is good to see something again, even if it is this other world.";
say "You know now that you want to help the three ghostly prisoners.[paragraph break]";
say "The other mother says: 'I think you had better stay with me. Your parents are not interested in you and have left you to me, and then they went away. They are not here, gone, vanished. You will never find them.'[paragraph break]";
