Chapter of the Player

The player is in Coraline's Room.

The player is female. Understand "Coraline" as yourself. Understand "yourself" as yourself. The description is "You are a serious, resourceful girl, somewhat small for your age."

The player is wearing a pair of pajamas and some slippers. The slippers are shoes. The pajamas are plural-named. The indefinite article is "a".

The description of the slippers is "Ordinary slippers, made to keep your feet warm. (If you go outside, you might want to wear warmer shoes.)"

The carrying capacity of the player is 8.

Instead of taking off the pajamas, say "I'd rather not."

The description of the pajamas is "A comfortable pair of pajamas."

After examining yourself:

if the player is real, display the figure of Coraline;

otherwise display the figure of the other Coraline;

try taking inventory.

Definition: a direction (called thataway) is possible if the room thataway from the location is a room.

Instead of going nowhere when the player is in the House:

if the player is in the Empty Flat, continue the action; [because of trapdoor]

otherwise:

say "Ouch, that hurt. You just ran against a wall.";

if the number of possible directions is 0, say "There seems to be no exit.";
